At Mater, we invite you to discover the world of pigments through an exhibition and three activities exploring natural pigments, dyeing techniques and colour in architecture.
The session will begin with a guided tour of the exhibition Colour, Pigment and Origin.
Next, artist Sulé Duc will give a demonstration of the process of making natural dyes from onion skins. We will explore how to extract colour from plant materials and how to apply it to different fibres.
During the workshop, we will dye small fabric samples (mordanted fabric or wool), experimenting with the results and possibilities of natural dyes.
